Hi Peterman,
I must apologise to you as my information was incorrect about our summer rainfall(as BR pointed out). I don't know what I was thinking! I was actually away for all of November and a lot of December - so it must have been one of those blonde moments. (I turned 50 and my hair turned blonde - really weird I know and so have come the blonde moments with it!) Nevertheless, that's not to say that over the remainder of summer December, January, February we had an enormous amount of rain. Enough in fact, to take our dam levels up to 40% and to take us off severe water restrictions. There's an article in todays paper by a long range weather forecaster who predicts more of the same this summer as well as cyclones. So insomuchas I did get the time period wrong - the period of time relevant to your visit is still the same outcome and so your decision to steer clear of Brisbane (boo hoo we'll miss you) is probably wise and NSW the better option - all things considered. |
I think sometimes the intensity of rain throughout the wet months makes you remember it more stormbird and then you can at times get some drizzly hang about cloudy days.
The other thing that can occur at times is those heavy falls are often quite localised and whilst Brisbane may be copping it, weather can still be quite reasonable up or down the coast. And then like last week it can also be a much wider front, still with areas of concentration within and the next quandary will be what to do with all the recycling - could still be pumped out Toowoomba way, for if they have the plant sitting idle and do not run it, it'll be a problem running child when they do need it. |
