Katherine Gorge Cruises

Can someone please tell me how to get info on the Katherine Gorge cruises? I have searched on Goggle, but cannot find any data on choice of tours, times and rates.

I think this site below has times and rates, they are run by Nitmiluk tours; if this link doesn't work, google that.

Another source for the cruises is Travel North (www.travelnorth.com.au) located in Katherine, NT.
We used them to rent canoes to paddle through the gorge. This is a good way to go if you want to see the gorge at your own pace, but you can't go as far as the cruise boats go (unless you can portage).
We also booked the Crocodile Night Adventure through Travel North and it was a LOT of fun.

A friend and I hired a canoe early one morning (7am) and paddled Katherine Gorge. The water was completely still and the sides of the gorge reflected on the surface of the water like a mirror. It was a highlight of our top end holiday and I'd recommend that for your consideration instead of going on a motor tour.

We were there in the dry season which is our winter time and the water level drops a bit. I wouldn't be in a hurry to paddle it during the wet season.

The gorge is quite long and to paddle it during the dry you need to pick the canoe up and carry/drag it over some rocks/boulders occasionally but it's not to difficult or strenuous.

We even went swimming with the fresh-water crocodiles which the locals assured us was quite safe. However, swimming with crocodiles is quite incongruous so you might think to ask if that practice is still advised.

I heard a news report from Darwin the other day and the local authorities were encouraging fishermen to stop waiding out into the rivers infested with salt-water crocodiles.

When we were in Katherine there were no salt-water crocodiles in the gorge because it's not conected to the ocean.

Hope you have a great trip.
