Kangaroo Cruises

I cannot find current info on Kangaroo Cruises. Are they out of business? Any suggestions for cruises out of Cairns/Port Douglas, other than Coral Princess and Captain Cook?--small charter or small cruiser.

Hi Lee, I've not had any luck finding Kangaroo Explorer phone # 4032 4000 ( last mentioned in out of print "Islands of Australia's Great barrier Reef" . by Lonely Planet). but if you go to www.reeftrip.com and open overnight trips, you may find what you want. We were referred to this site by the people who operate the Solway Lass, a tall ship which does 3 night cruises through the Whitsundays. The Reef Endeavor seems to do 1 or 2 night trips out to the reef from Cairns for reasonable prices. If you hear any feedback about these operators please post. Thanks

Unfortunately, I believe they are out of business. My husband and I took the trip twice and loved it and would happily have done it again but have been unable to find any information also.

If you are preapared to venture into the younger and more adventurous area (read.. backpacker)

Down Under Dives in Cairns has two day sails at the reef in the atlantic clipper for very reasonable prices.

Dear Lee, If you go to www.divingcairns.com.au and send them an e-mail about 2 day one night snorkelling/dive trips one of the referrals will be to the Kangaroo Explorer. I don't know if that is the same as Kangaroo Cruises.

Cheers, AndrewDavid

Yes, it is the same ship. I can tell by the pictures. If you go to the "divingcairns" site and go to the bottom and click "live aboards" it is listed under 2 and 3 day dives. I thought I had heard it had become a dive boat after being sold.

Yes, I did find this site. It seems they do overnighters but shuttle people and food back and forth to port daily.
