Kakadu
We are planning to visit Darwin in the early part of October 2007. I've been reading about your drought and was wondering if this would affect Kakadu? We are also interested in doing a little baramundi fishing while in this area and are looking for guide recommendations. Thanks, as usual, for all your help.

Hi Sharon,
Yes the drought is serious (especially in the SE corner of the continent) but 'drought' is not a word normally associated with the Top End. Their weather patterns are quite different. It's tropical - it always rains at some point during the appointed season, which is roughly November to April. But every year is different as to when the "wet" really sets in. You will see some amazing electric storms, though!! Can't help with the Baramundi fishing - but love to eat it. |
Kakadu is experiencing colossal rainfall at present - far above average.

guess its like the US - some of us (I'm in So. California) are in a drought, while others (Pacific Northwest) are getting more than the normal rainfall. Thanks for the information - Looking forward to our trip. Any idea where we could post to get information on fishing guides?
