June in Australia ?

We plan to get an Aussie Pass to travel to OZ in early June -- flight just to Sydney costs as much without the extra three flights. We want to spend a week in Sydney. What other TWO destinations should we fly to ? Cairns ? Brisbane ? Melbourne ? Tasmania in June ???

I personally would not go to Melbourne or Tassie in June but I am a warm weather person. Sydney will probably be nice as I think will Cairns. If you have to go to one other I guess it should be Brisbane. The weather there I think would be pleasant then but I have not been for years. Others will know.

That's an easy call; Cairns and Uluru! June is perfect timing to visit the reef, rainforest, and tropical beaches and Cairns makes the ideal base. Uluru is unique, spectacular and you'll only fully appreciate this once you get there. Flights to Uluru are very expensive and so if you can get them with your Aussie pass then grab them! You'll only need 2-3 nights there.
If you really must see Melbourne or Brisbane / Sunshine Coast you can always grab a cheap flight from Sydney but on my itinerary they would be DISTANT 3rd and 4th choices.

agree with Bob 100%. June is a wonderful time to visit the centre of the continent. But do give yourselves time to really soak it in. Don't just whizz in, check out the Rock, and leave, unless you absolutely have to. 2-3 days is OK, but if you have longer, even better. There is plenty to see if you like huge spaces.
