January airfare from US (Phila.) to NZ

Trying to get an idea of prices from people who did this in 2004, as we are exploring the idea of doing this in 2005. Probably to Auckland, but things are not decided, yet.

I gather no one has gone from NE US to NZ? Guess it's going to be expensive, then...

what I would probably do is go onto the web and see what's out there - check out Air New Zeland's website, plug in dates for this year about when you want to go in 2005 and that will give you a ball park. Of course, fares can always change, so what's out there today may not even be out there tomorrow.

Thanks mishoe01. I have checked the various Web sites, but I figured there were probably "deals", at some point that I missed. Or is close to $2000 about what I can expect to pay?

not sure what cost is to NZ - I know that I've been looking at OZ for this year, and getting costs about $1500.

Forgot to tell you - I'm flying from the DC area

Elberko

Check out the Air New Zealand site. airnewzealand.com

They have flights ex LA for 848 rtn and ex SFO for 960 USD.

Couple these with a cheap US domestic fare and it should be a lot less than $2,000.

Air New Zealand also offers great stop overs from LA in Fiji, the Cook Islands and Tahiti.

Good luck

Steve

Thanks Steve,

I do see that Air New Zealand has some good specials this year, but I'm not sure those were available this past January, and they end before next January. The January part is essential...
