O'Reilly's was great. We stayed two nights which was enough for us but mainly cos rain every do so hard large treks were out. Birds were amazing--including the endangered bower birds, which when you open a packet of raisins for yourself on your balcony is like a siren to these birds. Hubby was covered in these endangered little guys--rainins gone in seconds flat!

Port Douglas was really nice too. A car would be useful but not essential depending on the tours you do. Do the breakfast with the birds at Rainforest habitat.
