Is it worth it to visit Australia for a week?

or is that not enough time?

Of course, it depends greatly on where you are travelling from.

If you're coming from the U.S., no it's not enough time -- you should save your $ this time around and go somewhere elese on your vacation.

Wait to take a trip to Australia when you can give it 2-3 weeks.

unless there was a particularly good reason, I wouldn't go to the US for a week - just too far and too much to cover. Oz is about the same size!

Probably need some more detail. Are you likely to visit Australia again or is this a one off opportunity?/
Where would you be coming from? How would you handle a very hectic week?If you are younger rather older might make a difference.I love travel so I would jump at any opportunity to travel.

I guess it comes down to "enough time" for what? To see Australia or to see one place in Australia?

I think I'd save up money/time to spend two weeks if you're flying from N. America. The long flight really drags you down for a day or two afterwards.

I am trying to think of ANY country I have ever been to, regardless of size, that a week was sufficient to visit. I remember spending even less than that in Tonga, and I wished I could have stayed on; but since it was only a couple of hours from Australia, I didn't fret too much. But if it had been half-way across the world, and if I had spent a small fortune on plane fares, and if I wasn't likely to get the opportunity to go back for a long time..... well, I don't know what your circumstances are, but I have a feeling that you will feel, at the end of the week, that you've only just sampled the first course, and that you haven't had even a whiff of the main course and all the desserts. Australia is not only a BIG country... it's a very interesting one, and has a lot to see. Unfortunately for the hurried traveller, its sights are not all clustered in one place but are spread far and wide over the whole continent. A week is better than nothing, but, no.... it's not nearly enough.

Which question are you asking?

Is it worth it to visit Australia for a week? Yes of course it is - though not pleasant. It's usually about 30 hours from my house to Sydney, or Cairns. Seven days there can be great. But many people would regard 60 hours' total travel time as excessive for 160 hours' in-Australia time.

Is it enough time? What for? You really can't do justice to the Vatican City in a week, much less somewhere the size of Oz. But you really don't think you can "do" anywhere, do you? For a week's diving, or a two-day meeting in Sydney followed by a couple of days R+R, seven days is ample.
