Sydney hotel NYE HELPPPPPP

So i was supposed to be staying at the Shangri la in a premier grand harbour view room but my travel agent or the S-L seem to have cocked up and now the rooms are fully booked. Can anyone give me ideas about hotels with EQUALLY good views of the bridge and opera in equally as good location (park Hyatt is out they want £511 per night) i guess i will pay up to £300 per night but the view is the must.

Look into the Holiday Inn - Old Sydney
<http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/...s?irs=null>

On their website, look at the picture entitled "Rooftop Pool View" and see what you think.

We stayed there 6 nights two years ago and were very impresses with their customer service, from the General Manager on down. I would stay there again.

The Intercontinental (Club Floor level) or Quay West Apartments.

I would agree with the Intercontinental.
The Harbourview North Sydney is in a fabulous location, but not quite as good as hotels on the Opera House side of the Bridge.

This is real rip-off territory.

All hotels with decent views are hideously priced on NYE.

All those suggested are equally good - but you may not be able to get anything. Park Hyatt may be the only place with vacancies.

Sorry about this - it's an embarrassment every year!

Thanks Guys
as i said i thought i had this all sown up (my guess is they realised i didnt want the obligatoy 4 nights stay only 3 so decided to back peddle)anyway have emailed the four seasons as they had availabilty but again for 4 nights!!! but i have an earlier stay planned with them at the start of my trip so i have asked them to look at this for me. It is such a rip off but i think it would be the same in any major city. I actually expected high prices i just didnt expect to struggle so far in advance of the date!!! If i can't get in the SL or FS i will try your suggestion of the Intercontinental as they do have rooms.

Thanks

Thinking laterally: Assuming your primary aim is to see the NYE fireworks ... If you can't get anything in the CBD, perhaps have a look at some of these on the North Shore & Eastern Suburbs(www.wotif.com.au)
Vibe - Milsons Point
Harbourside Apartments - McMahon's Point
Rydges - North Sydney
The 3 above should all have harbour views ... but you would need to check to ensure that your room does.

Eastern Suburbs: Stamford Plaza - Double Bay
.......? (Formerly "W" at Wooloomooloo .. someone help me out, please).

I think "W" is now "Blue" or is that depressed, or purple or Q or something!

Or - you could do what the rest of us do - stay in the suburbs, and catch a train into the city!
