Info on Curtin Springs?

Has anyone stayed at Curtin Springs (on the way to Ayers Rock from Alice), and, if so, would you recommend it? Thanks.

We have only stopped at Curtin Springs long enough to have a coffee and use their toilet facilities which were not of the highest standards, shall we say.
Are you camping? I believe the campground is fairly rough and ready, but very cheap. No, I would not recommend it.
If you are looking for an overnight stop between Alice and Yulura, I'd suggest staying at Erdunda. This is a roadhouse at the turnoff from the main highway. The campground and toilet facilities are good, they have motel rooms and a restaurant, plus take-away food.

Hi HBR,

All I can say is avoid it like the plague.

Marg has left out the "l" in Erldunda. The place has recently had a bit of a clean up and is the half way point between Alice Springs and Ayres Rock.

Cheers

Hi HBR,
Passed through Curtin Springs a week and a half ago. Its a real slum, the least attractive road house, camp, caravan site between Alice and Uluru. We did not stay at any of them as we were on our way to King's Canyon, but enjoyed meeting Dinky, the world famous singing and piano playing dingo of central Australia at Stuart' s Well, closer to Alice.
Michi we met a middle aged Canadian bicyclist at Stuart's Well who was travelling from Darwin to Adelaide, my hero! and he hadn't even read "Cold Beer and Crocodiles". Sorry we missed you.
