Hunter Valley/Blue Mountains
Hello, can anyone suggest a good Blue Mountains tour and Hunter Valley tour....for Hunter Valley, I'm a little more interested in something less touristy and more adventerous.
Also, if it comes down to having to choose between the 2, what would people's suggestions be?
Thanks.

Blue Mountains wins hands down. Neither is very touristy though and there would be a lot more to do in the BM. I wouldn't get a tour though. I would go on a "do it yourself" and take local tours once I was there.

Thanks Liz, as a follow up, we will not have a car.....so we will have to do a tour...I almost wish we'd have a car......

Take the train from Sydney to the Blue Mountains - about 2 hours - and get off at Katoomba.
By doing it this way you can go when the weather is nice and then you can choose the trips you want to do when you get there.
Alan Jarman can chip in here and make some wonderful suggestions.
I personally would stay overnight and make it a 2 days trip at least.

I agree with Liz - it is an easy and fast train ride to Katoomba, where it is an easy walk to trails, hotels, and the Scenic Railway. A nice trip is to walk down the, 'Giants Staircase' trail, starting at Echo Point Overlook. This will take you down to the famous Three Sisters rock formations, and then to the base of the Scenic Railway, a very steep inclined rail tram, that will take you back up to the rim. You don't need a tour company to do that.
