Hotels in Cairns
Anyone ever use the discount booking service olotels to book a hotel. Their prices seem much better than other services or the hotel booking services. Any recommendations for a hotel in Cairns. We will not have a car & would like to stay near the Esplanade. There are 2 of us.

Ignoring the spam response above, I can only re-iterate the advice already given in your other (related) thread - stay in Palm Cove (or Port Douglas). Why do you want to stay in Cairns? What is the attraction of Cairns?
As for olotels, I must admit I've never heard of them. |
I've used wotif successfully for Cairns and thereabouts a couple of times.
Never heard of olotels. |
Where should one look in Palm Cove?

If you haven't already, as suggested, have a look at wotif to get an idea of what's available -
http://www.wotif.com/search/results?...4&viewType=all Any idea of the budget? We've stayed at the Reef House a few times - perhaps a bit dated but pleasant enough. Look at Peppers, Angsana, Sea Temple if you want higher-end. We've also stayed a few times at Paradise Resort - bit more middle-of-the-road but does the job. The restaurant at the Reef House is usually good (and particularly nice if you can sit out on the deck on a pleasant evening). There are several restaurants at / near Peppers, including Lime and Pepper and Choc Dee Thai (which is good if you like Thai). Nu Nu gets good reviews but in our view was overpriced and pretentious. There's a variety of other places to eat, all of which will be within walking distance as Palm Cove is relatively small (it takes about 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other). http://www.palmcoveaustralia.com/con...staurants.html If you need wine / beer etc., there's a bottle shop at the end of Williams Esplanade (the main drag), round the corner on Veivers Road - http://www.findmybottleshop.com.au/b...cove/70b4634c/ |
Note that, in the wotif link above, it's currently showing some truly bizarre rates for the Reef House - anything from $6,999 / night to $10,349 - it's not that expensive!
