Hotel or B&B in Christchurch

We're planning to be in Christchurch for 3 days late in October, and I'm interested in suggestions for a nice hotel or B&B, either in or within a short walk of the major downtown area. Any first-hand recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Les,
We stayed at the Millenium last year and can highly recommend it.
Wonderful location right in the city centre.
Comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and very pleasant staff.

We stayed at The Grange House at 56 Armagh Street. Walking distance to the CBD. But we didn't have to walk. The proprietor, Marie Simpson, provided us with trolly passes. Lovely place as well as hostess.
The year before we stayed at the Rydges in the center of the CBD. One block from Cathedral Square.
Both have web sites.
We loved CHC.
By the way, two restaurants we frequented while there were The Oxford on Avon and the Chancellor on Lane. Both in the CBD.

Do the rooms at The Grange House have private baths?

We stayed at Villa Victoria - a beautifully restored villa which is now a B&B. Only minutes from the city with ensuite bathrooms and hosted by Kate, a lovely lady. Delicious breakfasts. www.bnb.co.nz/hosts/villavictoria.html
