Holiday Greetings from freaking HOT Perth, Australia!
It's a freaking hot Christmas Day here in Perth, Australia. Thank goodness for air conditioning and ice cold sparkling red zinfindel from Jarrahridge in the Swan Valley!
"Perth will likely host the hottest Christmas Day in the world today, with the temperature forecast to soar to 39 degrees. No other major city is expected to come close to the scorching conditions, which would be nine degrees above the capital's long-term Christmas Day average despite recording 40 degrees in 2010." Bah Humbug...I so ENVY you in cooler climes! Merry Christmas ya'll! |
And Merry Christmas to you, Mel, and everyone on this forum. Wellington was 29 degrees today and I'm in Auckland where it was 25 and wet!
Off to the Zoo with adorable nearly-three year old grandson tomorrow so hope weather improves and temp is a little cooler. Dot |
Have a good one Dot!
|
My friend Russell, whose farm is 250 miles southeast of Perth, may not like the intensity of the heat, but I know that he is happy that the rains that have hampered his harvesting have stopped. ZZ
|
That surprises me Zambezi. I've never heard anyone here complain about the rain, which we get very little of!
|
My friend and his son began harvesting their grains on Nov. 12, 2012, and were interrupted frequently by heavy rain storms. ZZ
|
Ah...we did have some wet days this spring, but still less than our average according to the water corporation. We need all that we can get. As does my home state of Colorado which has been drying (and burning) up at an alarming rate.
They did get a white Christmas though -let it snow, let it snow! |
I'm in Germany Mel, so had the cool Christmas you would have liked. At home in Sydney, I believe they had one of, if not the, wettest Christmas Days on record with 200 ml of rain
|
Any snow Bokhara?
|
In Sydney and going to the Blue Mountains, we had a deluge.
Nearing Katoomba, thick fog. I missed the hotel on the first pass down Katoomba Street because the fog was so bad. Heavy rain as well. |
A wonderful warm day for Christmas on the Atherton Tablelands and so it continues with cool nights just great for sleeping. Thank goodness we don't need air-conditioning. 25*C now at 1230 hrs.
Mel, not my favourite drink but have one for me if you need an excuse for another. |
My friend in Perth is pregnant and she has decided the only way to bear the heat is to shove a frozen bottle of water down her t-shirt. She's happy that her growing cleavage is kept cool!
Stay cool down under! We're freezing in Massachusetts.. packed ice and it was 10 F when I got up this morning. |
We got a break today, but it's supposed to get miserable again this weekend.
I can't imagine being pregnant in this heat sassy_cat. Sounds like your friend is pretty resourceful though and at least her boobs are cool. You might suggest that she put a damp towel in the freezer and then wrap it around her neck too. |
sassy_cat, "Stay cool down under!" BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU STICK THAT ICE!
Hope it warms for you and your friend is enjoying this cooler break. |
Mel, thanks for the damp towel tip. I will pass it on! Enjoy the cooler spell..
Alan, :D It's even colder here today but laughing is a good way to warm up! |
