Help with where to go?

We have an 8 year old son and would like to go on a weeklong vacation at the end of August. We would like to go somewhere on the pacific ocean side. We are looking to go somewhere with great snorkeling, white sand beaches and luxurious accomodations. Since the trip is rather short, Australia's GBreefs is probably too far. Any suggestions?

The GBR is to far from where? Where are you coming from or where are you flying into? We need a bit more information before we can help you.

Perhaps Monsoon99 doesn't realise just how big the Pacific region is?

Tropo, I am well travelled and know quite well how large the pacific region is although I should have stated that we are flying out of Los Angeles. We have about 6-8 days. There is Tahiti, the Cook islands, Fiji, any specific recommendations of location and accomodations.

if you are coming from LA then tahiti (tho i don't know about the snorklelling) or Fiji.
Take an extra 3 days travelling time and go the GBR - perfect time of year!
