help me quick with Fiji mess up

I was booked in Matamanoa but the travel agent said it's been over booked and is offering to put us at Likuliku Lagoon at Malolo.
Help? I have no clue

There are so many resorts in Fiji. It took me ages to research and even then one of the two resorts I was at didn't live up to my expectations despite rave reviews in Tripadvisor. Fijian resorts are discussed at length in Tripadvisor and most of the top resorts get the occasional bad review so check Likuliku.

I stayed at Royal Davui and had a fabulous time. It was my kind of resort but it may not be yours.

Hi Lauricelli,

Wow...overbooking in Fiji..that's something new --

Likiliku is a 5 star resort, so you're going up accommodation-wise, not down, which is always a good thing!

I stayed there in November on my way back from New Zealand; on my personal vacation, but checking it out as well I'm a travel agent). The rooms are stunning - btw, which class of room are they going to put you in? That's important.

Food is very "Food Network" style, as in, the presentation is gorgeous and the quality of the food is wonderful as well. I thought the portions were fine for me (and in the heat, you don't really want heavy food), but wondered about some of the big guys I saw at the resort!

That said, depending on your style of eating/appetite, it can be a long time between lunch and dinner, if you're used to eating later in the evening as my husband and I are! There's no sort of tea, or afternoon break or anything like that; I started taking a couple of rolls and some ham and cheese from the breakfast buffet just in case we got a bit hungry, and they came in handy! :)

Drinks are very expensive; if memory serves me correctly, mixed cocktails start @ approx. $15 and a bottle of wine at $40.

Hope this is helpful!

Thanks for the feedback.
We're booked for a Beachfront Bure. Had I known Fiji was wrought with overbooking I would have booked myself. I'm going to a seminar on the main island and wanted to add a few extra days for winding down. I live in So. California so it's a long way to go and then get the run around. think I'll pack some wine.

How is the beach at Likuliku on Malolo, can anyone compare it to Matamanoa?
thanks!

Lauricelli,

Booking it yourself wouldn't have prevented overbooking -- believe it or not, most resorts and ALL airlines overbook - that's because they allow for a certain number of cancellations - they project that into their booking figures. The problem comes in if no one cancels ! Or if they misjudge and overbook waayyyyy too much (instead of just a couple of rooms).

I was in the Beachfront Bure as well - the room's to die for - absolutely stunning; I'm sure you've been on the website and seen the outdoor shower, etc.

Packing wine? You read my mind - I did the same thing -- as we were coming back from NZ, with great wine to be had, we wrapped some bottles in our clothes, put them in the backpack and then into our fridge in our room!

Sorry, can't help you with a beach comparison - other than walking along it, gathering shells, most of my time was spent in the pool.

Oh, but if you do walk along the beach, check out the fish -- I suddenly became aware that they were "stalking us"! Yes, that's right -- they were following us along waiting for us to throw them some food! I noticed this on the second day and after that I obliged them and would toss pieces of bread.

BULA! (as they say in Fiji)
