Has anyone flown China Airlines?

I'm planning a trip to Thailand this summer, and found an awesome airfare from New York to Bangkok. It is on China Airlines (based out of Taiwan). Has anyone used this airline? Opinions? Thanks.

I've flown on China Airlines from Beijing to Shanghai, and it was a bumpy flight! Hope this helps.

Let's put it this way..... there's a lot of cheap fare lately in asia n the slowest selling one is China Airline even thought they ARE the CHEAPEST. I hope that help.

You don't need to worry about the safety, because they just got one plane dropped last month in Taiwan, more than 100 people dead, so it's the best peroid to take China Airline as they must be very careful.

I live here in Taiwan and fly throughout Asia extensively. I flew China Airlines from Taipei to Hong Kong last October. Never again. It was a very scary ride, and the food was terrible. Thai Airways is an excellent alternative.

I flew China Air in Dec. '93 when my flight from Hong Kong to LA was cancelled. I don't remember any problems. The flight was less than half filled, so I had three seats to myself. I slept most of the way. I thought the food (dim sum) was rather decent. The flight attendants were very courteous. I have heard, though, that their safety record is spotty. Don't know how accurate that is, but you may want to check it out.

I've flown first class from LA to Taiwan and thought that China Air was the best in the world. Getting there was half the fun.

However, their safety record isn't so hot. There have been several recent crashes.
