Hamilton v. Hayman
Hi there,

I was hoping someone out there could help me??! I am visiting the Whitsunday's for 4 nights as part of my honeymoon in mid-Jan 2003. I was wondering if people would recommend staying on Hamilton or alternatively Hayman Island. There would seem to be a large price difference between the two - with Hayman costing more, and I am unsure if it is worth the extra cost?

Thanks in advance!
Hayman is a smaller 5* resort - very luxurious. Hamilton is large with resort, apartments, houses. If you're loking for luxury go to Hayman. In the upper price range you could also consider Bedarra - much more personal and 'island hideaway'.

I honeymooned on Hayman in August 2001. It was excellent! The rooms are very nice; spacious too. There is a lot to do. The service is excellent. We had a then-recently renovated lagoon deluxe room. Our total cost averaged US$400/day including all of our food and activities. Daily full buffet breakfast was included, but we were on our own for lunch and dinner. Ask for a honeymoon package - they throw in a number of activities. Also, we chose Hayman because there are far less children there. Hayman definitely will spoil you! Either way, you will love Australia and the Great Barrier Reef.

I could make a comment but I think that as *Pete* has told me that I know zip about anything I will leave all the comments to him.
However seeing that I am here and seeing that I am thick skinned I will say that Hayman is much better than Hamilton and far less commercial. Hayman is lovely and there is a real reason why there is a big price difference between the 2
Hayman is different than Hamilton. Not better not worse. Different, thats all.
Hamilton is cheaper therefore appeals to more family orientated people. However lots of singles and couples stay there as well. You can do just about any thing you want to do either on Hamilton or from Hamilton. On the other hand as Hayman is one of the worlds GREAT RESORTS, it appeals to people looking to get away from it all. Normally with out the kids.Five star and luxury is what Hayman is about. And they do it very well. However I know loads of people whom go back to Hamilton every year for their annual holidays. G-day Liz. Pete
