GTG in Australia - Feb or March
 

We are going on our first trip to Australia starting in February. Would love to meet any locals or other travelers who are there when we are. Some of our dates and where we will be include
Tasmania - 1 Feb - 12 Feb but moving around
Melbourne - 13th Feb thru the 18th
Gold Coast - 26th Feb thru 4th March
Sydney (our last stop!) - 11th March thru 18th March

What days and times are you free when in Melbourne?

Except for 13 Feb (birthday dinner) we havent made any plans so free the day or nights of the 14-18.

I have just been reading your Lyon and Dijon reports (again...) and clicked on your name to see what else you had been up to and saw this thread. Put me down as another Sydney contender.... I do work Mon and Wed so any other day would be great for me if that possibly works for others..

Northie, how about on the 14th? We've got a food tour that ends around 1 so we coUld meet you somewhere around 2. Does that work? Anyplace is fine by us.

Having come from the food tour just coffee. If you prefer lunch we could do another day. At this point the week is pretty open so Monday the 13 or Thursday, 16th would work.

I can meet for coffee on the Tuesday either in Carlton or CBD . I could also do lunch in Carlton on Thursday. Looks like only me .

Carlton is a great spot, it's not far north east of the CBD. It's been globalised somewhat but had a big Italian influence for a long time. Plenty of great food options. Look for King & Godfree in Lygon St. A providore of all things Italian and owned by the uncle of DH since the 1950's.
Wish I was there....

King and Godfree has been closed for renovation for about a year - one part ot it is one by the grand daughter of Carlo Valmorbido "Pidapipo" a gelateria which only last week when I walked past had queues out the door.
My family has lived n Carlton since 1860 .
GTG - University cafe 257 Lygon street . Swanston Street trams get you there ( Melb. University stop ) then 5 mins walk to Lygon street .

White Night is on in Melbourne on Saturday night and the Tomato (passatta ) festival is on Sunday .

Saw news on White Night- they made it sound pretty crazy. 500k people. But we'll be here for it, We leave Melbourne on Sunday morning.
