Snorkeling and walking through the rainforest were the highlights when I was there for the day. I saw a huge black spider (bigger than my hand) suspended in a tree, a few feet above my head. I've never been able to find out what kind of spider it was. The memory of the spider was haunting. Does anyone know more about the spiders on this island?

Skinny or fat legs? Hairy or not?
Any colours to speak of? Did you take a photo?
The more info you send the easier to identify.

The female Golden Orb Web spider is one of the largest web-building spiders in tropical north, did it look like this?
