Great Ocean Road
 

We are driving from Melbourne to Adelaide along Great Ocean Road, any suggestions of places to stop of things to see??

You could go to Bell's Beach - a good spot for a surf, and also where a number of movies have ben filmed (or so I have been informed)!! <BR> <BR>Mail me direct if you want to, as I kept a travel diary in Oz, and could let you have the section on GOR if you like...... <BR> <BR>Jenny

yes there is plenty to see on the Great Ocean Road. Some nice attractions such as the 12 apostles and London Bridge, also some beautiful beaches along the way.

Great trip idea - take two days to do it and overnight in Apollo Bay ( a charming fishing town with great fish dinners at the hotels). Don't miss the very good short rainforest walks like Maits Rest and a couple in Otways NP along the way. If you have time, divert briefly off the road near Lorne and do the easy 45 minute circuit walk around Upper and Lower Kalimna Falls. Both are lovely and the walk is a delight. <BR> <BR>On the coast, Loch Ard Gorge is just past the Apostles and is equally amazing. You can walk all over the gorge area and should. The Bay of Islands further west is also quite nice.

Robyn, <BR>stop in Port Fairy for a look around if you have time - small town with an 'olde English' feel - lot's of nice B&Bs and restaurants. <BR>Also Warrnambool is in an area known as the Shipwreck Coast where numerous ships were lost in the 1800's. Lots to see there too. <BR>Absolute must is near Port Campbell - the 12 Apostles (though there aren't actually 12). Read the story of the Loch Ard Gorge, there's a historic plaque near the carpark - very moving. <BR>Kay

As well as the stupendous scenery - make sure you stop at Port fairy - overnight if possible. It's the most beautiful small old fishing port town, set on a river. Many of the houses have been restored and it has fabulous b&b's (I particularly recommend Gobles Mill house which overlooks the river) and don't miss a meal at the Victoria Hotel.
