But rabid makes for a much more interesting thread.

And, according to dictionary.com:

1. irrationally extreme in opinion or practice: a rabid isolationist; a rabid baseball fan.
2. furious or raging; violently intense: a rabid hunger.
3. affected with or pertaining to rabies; mad.

So it kinda sortof could have worked, but agreed, avid would have been a better choice of word.

Sally, I think it might have been the eggs benedict that had you foaming (I can't actually remember what you had

I don't think Toucan needs an English lesson, luckygirl, another meaning of "rabid" is "fanatical". Have also had the pleasure of meeting Sally, and I don't think she'd mind being described as a "fanatical snorkeller"!

No problem Pat, and I also suspect that Sally wouldn't mind being described as a fanatical snorkeler.

Gosh, has Bostontravel been back? And will they choose to snorkel?

I spoke to Sally on the phone. There was no mention at all of dogs and/or rabidity - but she could have hidden it well.

She does tell a good snorkel story, though!

lot's of great alliteration there ivenotbeeneverywhere!

Margo, perhaps the rabidity went dormant? And only surfaces when in proximity to snorkeling opportunities?

This so so helpful! My husband and I leave Tuesday (from Portland, Oregon) for eight days in Sidney and seven days in Cairns.

Wonder if we'll be hearing ad nauseum about Michael Jackson as we are there.
