Golf in New Zealand
Any favorites on either island? I hear the new Cape Kidnappers is amazing?
|
I would reccomend Kauri Cliffs it is the best course in NZ and charges NZ$400 per person for a round of golf but it is well work it try www.luxuryadventures.co.nz they can organise accommodation and golf if you need.

I've played Kauri Cliffs and believe it to be the best course in the world. But I hear that Kidnappers is even better. Hard to believe but I'm going to play it in September to find out.
Also Kauri is way out of the way and Cape Kidnappers is near the nice town of Napier so easier to plan other things around your golf. Play both !!! |
I like the historic old courses more than the expensive new ones built by Americans. Like Balmacewan, Chisholm Park, and even Arrowtown.

Hi Golfer!
First up, I know NOTHING about golf...unless it's Miniture Golf, and I can get the ball in the clown's mouth for a free game....:) that said, I have a client who is a MAJOR golfer -- apparently, (and you would know about this more than I,-- Golf Magazine or Digest, or whatever it's called, publishes something called "the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World" every year). His goal: play any new courses that are listed. My Job: plan his airfare / accomodations around those courses. He's just returned from Australia and New Zealand, playing the "new" courses listed on the Master List, and I did his itinerary based on where he wanted to play. Cape Kidnappers was one of them. Feel free to email / post any questions. Regards, Melodie Certified Aussie & Kiwi Specialist |
read and never comment, but... Cape Kidnappers is the best golf course that I have ever played and you will not have a single regret at any price. Kauri Cliffs is also in my TOP 10 and the resort itself is as good a couples place as I can imagine...

Well I'm sure I agree with the above. But...
the great thing about golf in NZ is every little town has its own golf course (or two). You can play many charming rurual courses for loose change (or less if you are a senior). My uncle Bill from Canada loved it so much that he took the money he saved on golf green fees and bought brand new marquee clubs! My favourites include Hastings Golf Club at Bridge Par ($35NZD) and Palmerston North ($20NZD). For South Island Courses Methven is good as well as Milbrook in Queestown (pricy). Golf in NZ is very cheap without the elitism of other countries. In fact I do believe that golf is the sport with the highest participation in NZ. Check out www.nzgolf.org.nz. They have loads of information, discounts and a club/course finder. |
Below is a link to everything about golf in New Zealand including all golf courses and player reviews.
