Gold Coast Questions

Can anyone comment on Coolangatta as a holiday destination? In particular is anyone familiar with Rainbow Bay or Greenmount Beach? Does the fact that a large river empties into the ocean here cause problems with murky waters or high bacteria levels on the beach? Any specific accomodation recommendations here? Thanks everyone.

Coolangatta is quite a nice place to holiday in. small surfy kind of town, about a half hour drive to the gold coast. the beaches in coolangatta are absolutely beautiful, especially rainbow bay and greenmount. the water is pretty much always perfectly clear. the good thing about coolangatta is that you can really get around without having a car. i recommend it!

Sounds nice to me. Anyone know what early November is like? How's the weather (ie rainy?) Is it crowded?

Weather should be great beach weather. Rains come about Christmas on. Enjoy!!

P.S.

Schoolies week (Week? Month?) is around then...beware. (When Year 12 students from down south finish school they party in Qld; usually the gold Coast)

Yes, weather in november is pretty much perfect. nice and warm. no, you won't have any problems with schoolies, that usually starts around the 20th of november and yes, is mainly centered around surfers paradise. wouldn't get all that many hanging around coolangatta.
