Gold Coast Hinterland

We will be up on the Gold Coast for a week or so in December and will probably spend a day or two driving around the hinterland.

I can recall years ago, going to a river where there was a cave type formation and the waterfall was coming down through a hole in the roof into the cave. Can someone please tell me what this place was called as I would love to go back.

Would love to hear any recommendations of other places we should visit as well.

This place is called Natural Arch. It is in Numinbah Valley. If you go there in the late afternoon there are glow worms to be seen after dark. I imagine there are tours now but when I was a child we lived nearby and you could self guide. It is a beautiful area and I would reccommend a trip to Springbrook National Park and visiting Natural Arch on the way back to the Gold Coast. Take a light coat, even in the summer Springbrook can turn cool suddenly.

Thanks John and Skittle. That is indeed the place I was thinking of.

And of course there's also Lamington Nat'l Park, Binna Burra and O'Reilly's being the main hubs for parking, accommodation, and walks. Binna Burra has wonderful views down the Numinbah Valley (where Natural Arch and Egg Rock are). O'Reilly's has incredible views inland to the Great Dividing Range. Both places offer nice rainforest walks to views and waterfalls. Lots of colorful birds to see as well.
