Hi, Wondering about accommadation for a family of 5 in the Gold Coast region for 5 or 6 nights in June. Small hotels are fine. Looking for some thing no more than $110.00 Australian Dollars a night with breakfast.<BR>Any information would be appreciated<BR>Thank you in advance.<BR>Jan.

The only accommodation you could get for that price for a family of 5 in the high season would be a hostel or a motel outside of the G.C. $110Au only works out to be $22 p/p p/n and there arn't too many places who would work on those figures.

We had a 2 bedroom 2 bath with full kitchen, laundry room, parking, a nice pool and bar-b-q area for about $110 a night in June 2001. Lots of little bakeries and convenience stores nearby, and 1 block walk to the beach. Ask for a room behind the pool as they are quiet. The ones out in front may get some road noise.

Thank a lot Lucy, I'll contact them. Also I read a report in here on a drive from a place called Coffs Harbour up through the mountains and back to the coast again. Thats just the stuff our family loves to do. Do you know any thing about that part of Australia. Jan

Why not hire a car and take a few days to travel south to Coffs Harbour - it's only about 300 km. The route from Gold Coast goes through Bryon Bay (beautiful beach) and Ballina, both good places to stay overnight. I think the drive through the mountains you refer to could be from Coffs Harbour through Bellingen to the Dorigo National Park. There is a board walk through the tops of the trees plus some walks through the forest.<BR>Have you considered staying in a cabin in a caravan park? There are some very nice ones along the coast. The one we stay in is Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park - it's situated on a river inlet and about 5 minutes traffic-free walk from the surf. Tweedshead, south of surfers paradise has reasonably priced motels. Definitely need a car to see all the sites. The beaches are spectacular. Lots of history there too.
