Going to Melbourne-advise as to Sydney or NZ

My husband will be working in Melbourne for a month. I will be joining him his last week there. We're from the U.S. Coming back we would like to stop in either Sydney or Auckland, NZ for a couple of days.
Any suggestions as to which place you would rather visit if you had to choose one?(Wish we could do both!) Thanks.

I just skirted the outskirts of Auckland so am no expert but there is a great deal to see and do in Sydney. Circular Quay, the Rocks, the Sydney Opera House, the gardens. It was lovely. Perhaps someone else can advise re Auckland.

Hi Ginny:
Have been to Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland as recently as last November. All three places are different, and in some respects, a lot alike. Traffic is something they have in common.
I like all three places. Since you're going to be in Australia for a month, I think I'd sample New Zealand. Auckland has a terrific shopping area in the CBD as well as other big city sights. Then there's the Tower Casino.

The exchange rate in NZ is even better than Australia's. The people though are just as accommodating as in Australia.

Tough choice.

John
Perhaps you could take a three-day weekend to Sydney during your month in Melbourne -- which would allow you to do NZ on the way home?
