I've never flown the SYD-SIN route, but I flew Garuda entirely too much during the four years I lived in Indonesia. Let's just say I'm glad I no longer have to fly them.

Having said that, their international flights are worlds better than their domestic flights IMO.

I've never flown Garuda and all I ever knew about them was their awesomely bad reputation. However, this article in the Herald today seems to put forward that they have transformed themselves into quite a good airline:

So make of it what you will, and if you decide not to go with them, there's always the rest of the Skytrax list to consider ...

I've been flying Garuda Sydney-Bali for about 10 years & I think they are fine. They did have a dodgy reputation, but that's old news.
Better than Jetstar, who are likely to cancel or re- route homeward flights at the last minute with little or no notice.

Personally I wouldnt fly Garuda - after they were the only ones flying in and out of Indonesia when the volcano erupted I decided Id never fly them.

I work for an airline and I am quite picky when it comes to the airlines I fly other then my own.

Check out the Sky Trax website for some other detailed reviews and make the decision for yourself.

That's interesting Little_Miss_Flighty.

Air New Zealand was the only airline that continued to fly last year during the Chilean ash cloud fallout. I wasn't sure whether to be nervous or thankful, as I was on one of their flights.
