Going to be in Sydney and Cairns, Port Douglas, and Silky Oaks-looking to make some great reservations at all kinds of restaurants-prices not important. HELP....

There is a fantastic French restaurant in Willoughby, Sydney, called Chez Renee.

Lucky you- the lunch we had at Silky Oaks was very good- I'd imagine the rest of the meals are excellent there, too!

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES. DID ANYONE EVER HEAR OF LIME OR NAUTILUS IN OR NEAR PORT DOUGLAS OR CAIRNS? THEY WERE BOTH HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUT I CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THEM.

Hi Sally,<BR>I agree with all the recom. rest. at Port Douglas. I have only had afternoon tea at Silky Oaks (wished I had have stayed there)<BR>Lime is in the main street of Port Douglas. (it was there in March this year) I may be wrong but I think Nautlis is attached to one of the resorts.<BR>Have a lovely time. Intercontinental Hotel Sydney is very good for buffet.<BR>

Nautilus is where Bill Clinton ate when he was in P.D. The restaurant is in Port Douglas, but I forgot exactly where. I just remember seeing the picture of Bill and Hilary, but I don't recall seeing the restaurant on the street from Macrossan (but that's where I saw the picture posted).

When we walked past late one evening it was a buzz with people. The web page explains why !<BR>As for Bill Clinton eating there he was a frequant eater at the chinese as well, infact his photo's are everywhere !

lime has closed down. Nautilus is on the hill, and has beautiful ambience. Bill Clinton, Glenn Close, Jerry Seinfeld have all eaten there.<BR>

Hi I just got back from Port Douglas and Sydney. I thought the best restaurant in PD by far was Swish, followed by Sassi's. For cheap Italian I would go with Michelangelo's. <BR><BR>As for Sydney, there are tons of good restaurants just do some searches online and you will find a good list. We were happy with the choices in our Time Out and Lonely Planet guide books. I would also check with your concierge for up to date restaurant advice. <BR><BR>The biggest disappointment for us was Tetsuya's though. I would recommend you avoid the hype and spend your money elsewhere. The courses varied from bad to mediocre. I have had these types of expensive meals in Europe and this restaurant is in no way in the same league as say a 3 star Michelin restaurant in Paris.

If you're keen, drop me a line and let me know what type of restaurants you are looking for (style, food influences, etc) and I'll give you a starter list.<BR><BR>There are some amazing places here, and you can eat like a king for peanuts (compared to New York or other big cities in the US) especially with the current exchange rate.

Sally,<BR>How lucky you are going to Silky Oaks---loved it in 5/2002. Tetsuya (in Sydney)is so unbelieveably good and with a strong dollar is worth every penny (see article in Wine Spectator). Also enjoyed Rockpool in Sydney. At the shopping center in Port Douglas, there is a small restuarant where I had the best mudcrab of all the Australian restaurants! Enjoy.<BR>Kathy
