Fodor's has quoted a bunch of us and offering a free guide book!

Also, I saw gardyloo's name in the US section.

If you write to them, they'll send you the new Australia guide book or a gold guide of your choice. Can't wait to see what they quoted us as saying!

Actually, I just clicked on the top of the list of posts where it says "were you quoted?" to get to the article. and gardyloo is under Seattle, not US.

Neil -

I'm shocked that you're not listed and equally surprised to see several completely unfamiliar names.

Neil_Oz Nov 15th, 2007 12:28 AM

It's OK, MelnQ8. Well deserved.
I did get a quote last year in the China guide (but no freebie, curses).

Cilla_Tey Nov 15th, 2007 01:23 AM

Neil you're entitled to a freebie guide for being in China. Didn't you read my post? I got mine a few months ago. You were quoted many times in China.

Cilla_Tey Nov 15th, 2007 01:27 AM

http://ww2.13abc.com/Global/story.asp?S=6691478

Neil, I'm sure it's not too late to ask for your freebie.

Cilla_Tey Nov 15th, 2007 01:35 AM

BTW Neil, it's the Gold edition of the China guide released this year in June.

longhorn55 Nov 15th, 2007 06:35 AM

Thanks for posting this, Sally. I was pleasantly surprised to find my name on the list. Can't wait to get a new guidebook--where shall I go next?

SnRSeattle Nov 15th, 2007 07:14 AM

I was shocked, too, that you, Neil, didn't get mentioned here with all your great advice. Guess they figured they couldn't put someone in BOTH guides or else they would be accused of playing favorites.

Aw, shucks! My forgettable comments. Oh, well, I'll keep chipping in my two cents worth when it feels right.
For those on the list, way to go! I recognize several names who helped me plan our trips. Thanks again.

kerikeri Nov 16th, 2007 01:31 PM

thanks so much for pointing this out- i cannot imagine i have ever contributed anything useful enough on this forum to be quoted in a book and i didn;t even bother to read the list...and then there i was in your post.

cool!

thanks again!

kerikeri :)

Neil_Oz Nov 16th, 2007 02:17 PM

Thanks, Cilla!

Sob, too!

stevew Nov 24th, 2007 03:09 PM

Congrats to those who got quoted

Margo and Neil, we would have voted for you if we had the opportunity! It is quite a surprise that both of you were missed:(

Cheers

I just received my copy of the Fodors Australia guide and am thrilled - thank you Katie!

Betsy Dec 18th, 2007 03:23 PM

Sniff... :'(

stormbird Dec 18th, 2007 05:13 PM

I'm amazed I've been quoted (I hope I sounded at least reasonably intelligent) - but would love the freebie.

Can we request the freebie via email? If so can someone advise the best email address please?

SnRSeattle Dec 18th, 2007 05:35 PM

I requested mine via email. The info is in the link at the top of the posts called Word of Mouth (or go here: http://www.fodors.com/news/story_2879.html
I went to the bookstore to see the Australia book and my quote was pretty tame (about Darwin and the Top End being interesting) so since we have an abundance of info on Australia, I asked for a Caribbean one and it is chock full of info.

Hi Sally, Thanks for your help. Email is on the way. Yay!!

ALF Dec 19th, 2007 10:08 PM

Thanks for the info - I would certainly never have realized this on my own, as I rarely ever consult the Travel News section of this site.

Katie_H Dec 21st, 2007 10:39 AM

Hi everybody... I just saw this post.

Alf, we realize that many posters stick to the Forums; I've posted a "sticky" in the forum "Word of Mouth- December" and will continue to do so every month so it's easy to spread the word.

travellin Dec 20th, 2008 12:36 PM

Fodors sent me an e-mail...good thing since I hadn't been on the site for ages. Haven't been out of Canada for almost two years (except Florida) and it really is the pits!

Mucky Dec 29th, 2008 01:52 AM

double sob..........

prue Dec 29th, 2008 12:14 PM

My Fodors Guide (chose Canada as hope to visit there later in the year) arrived yesterday - thank you Katie.

Orlando_Vic Dec 29th, 2008 06:08 PM

Many thanks Sally. This is the first I have heard of it. I'm still hoping Katie will confirm it.

prue Dec 29th, 2008 06:57 PM

If you want more recent confirmation concerning the latest distribution of free Guides there is another post dated this month.
