Flying within New Zealand
what airlines fly within new zealand other than air new zealand.
What is the quickest way to get from: 1) Taupo to Queenstown? 2) Rotorua to Queenstown? Thanks for any info. |
Qantas also flys within New Zealand. Not sure about your other questions though...
|
I flew recently between Rotorua and Queenstown. One way with Qantas and return with Origin Pacific.
No complaints with either airline. |
We flew Auckland- Queenstown, on Quantas. I seem to recall they were a bit cheaper than AirNZ. Flights were 737. about an hour. I'm not sure there's much call for a flight from elsewhere, if you can drive to Aiuckland in 3 hours or so from Taupo?
Flights around NZ seem to be quite reasonable; I think the two airlines are in a price war. Virgin Blue is getting into the transTasman business too. |
Christa - Did you book your flight on Origin Pacific yourself or through an agent?
dougieu - From the Quantas site, it seems to me that they have many inter-islands flights. And they seem cheaper than ANZ. |

From Taupo to Queenstown the quickest way is by air NZ national/Link the domestic airline. Qantas and Origin Pacific don't fly from Taupo. Rotorua to Queenstown you have the choice of Air NZ or Origin Pacific. Qantas says it flys Rotorua to Queenstown but it is infact a codeshare with Origin Pacific. With Air NZ you will have more choice of flights as they offer by far the most domestic flights within NZ. Hope this helps Steve |
Jed,
The flight I took was booked via Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards on the Qantas website. We flew from Rotorua / Queenstown with Qantas and return with Origin Pacific. As Steve has mentioned, Origin Pacific is a codeshare partner with Qantas. Service was good on both flights. |
