Flight from Sydney to Cairns

We are traveling to Sydney in mid/late November of this year and have just decided to add a weekend getaway to the Great Barrier Reef. I'm wondering whether it would make the most sense to book the flights now from Sydney to Cairns or to wait another two weeks until we know the weather forecast as I know Australia is entering into the rainy season. Any recommendations on cheap airlines and buying tickets now versus waiting until we get to Australia? I'd appreciate any insight!

I have been in Cairns twice in the last week for work. It is already very humid and rained both times. So waiting for two weeks won't change things. Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar all fly SYD / CNS . The flights are full, regardless of the weather, so book before.
