First time in australia - Is Ayres rock the best place for ski-ing?

Will fly into Sydney and gradually do Melbourne Adelaide...etc.

Would really love to get some ski-ing in. Is Ayres Rock really the best place to go? It does seem a bit far off from my itinerary.

You didn't say what time of year you would be coming but almost certainly you could get some great skiing around Ayres Rock. It is actually a giant iceberg, similar to the one which sank the Titanic in the Med off the coast of Majorca.

This HAS to be a joke, but just in case... Ayers Rock, now known as Uluru, is in the middle of a desert. It gets incredibly cold at night in winter but the rest of the time it's just plain hot.
There are ski fields, only in winter, in Victoria and New South Wales.
Kay

Ayers Rock (known as Uluru) is in the middle of desert........no snow there !

The best 2 sets of snowfields are
(1)about 2 hours from Canberra or

(2) about 3 hours from Melbourne.

Hope this helps.

Scott

You may find that the snow is a funny brownish colour, but then so will your trousers be once you've commenced skiing down 'The Rock'. Also don't forget to bring along your camera & take plenty of photographs of the Indeginous Population ( Aboriginals ).
They love it.
