finding accommodations
 

I will be booking several accommodations in NSW Australia and Cairns. Are there any websites that you can go to that have good rates for hotels, motels, etc. Or is this not the way to go about it?

Start on the site of Sydney's biggest newspaper, www.smh.com.au and follow the travel links. There's a ton of good stuff if you burrow deeply.

For repeated visits you'll need to sign up - it's okay, they don't send you spam or sell your address, go ahead, it's a great resource.

While you're on the site, snoop around a bit, it's fun to arrive at a place and already know about some of the scandals or big news stories that have kept everybody up at night...

I would suggest you do a Search at the top of the page for Hotels in both Sydney and Cairns and you will get a huge amount of information.
Another good source is wotif.co.au

Another vote for www.wotif.com - we used this site almost exclusively for booking our last two trips to Australia.

Great deals and very user friendly.

My apologies for the lack of an 'm' in my information! Not a great help.
But it is a very good site which gives good information on a great number of hotels in each city, as well as offering good deals.

Depending on how soon before arriving you wish to book your accommodation, try lastminute.com.au

Also for those websites that want you to register, try bugmenot.com

Wotif.com is a great site for info. But you may get the same rates by emailing directly. Some people like to deal directly with the hotel. ((R))

Another source is Needitnow. We got good rates from them, Wotif, and some of the hotel's own websites.

Have a great trip. In Cairns we stayed at Palm Cove where we got really good rates going through Accor hotels the parent of their own large hotel there.

Again, wotif are really good also try quickbeds.com.au or needitnow.com.au or not1night.com.au

When booking Sydney, make sure it is close enough to everything. Bondi is a good place to stay becuase the public transport is great from there to get to anythwhere else or else Darling harbour or the city.
