Fiji holiday for single woman
 

Hi, I am travelling to Fiji this november by myself and am looking for a quiet relaxing motel to stay at that has or is close to a day spa but has options for activities.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to stay?

None specific. We stayed in a time share at Pacific Harbour on the south of the main island. Pacific Harbour seemed to have quite a variety of activities and relatively close to Suva. Don't know about day spa though.

Bear in mind that the islands are larger than you might think and it does take some time to get from place to place.

Best to stay on one of the islands. I personally think the mainland has little to offer anyone travelling on their own, I've been to Fiji but it is not my favourite destination in the Pacific.

I agree. Fiji, whilst pretty, is quite different to the other Pacific Islands. There doesn't seem to be much of a community spirit. They seem just to want your money.

Why did you choose Fiji?

I like to stay at the hotels in the Port Denaru area which is only about 20 mins from the airport e.g. Radisson, Sheraton, Sofitel. It's a safe friendly area where getting around is easy and there is many options available for things to do.

At the port you can catch an organised boat to go for a day trip to one of the islands. It is easy to catch the local "Bula Bus" or tourist bus or catch a cab cheaply. You can catch a cab for a pre-arranged price to visit a number of tourist/local sites including the closest 'big' town - Nadi Town or if you prefer all the hotels have tourist desks so you can organise a tour.

The hotels are joined along the beach (unfortunately it isn't a white sandy beach) so you can wander through all the hotels and use each pool.

I didn't like some of the resorts on the islands such as Treasure Island. When you look under the surface on many of the island resorts they seem pretty crummy. My opinion anyway. Check trip advisor.

These hotels are opposite the golf club which is beautiful. Hubbie and I would play golf and then stay at the open air clubhouse and have a drink and something to eat.

People in Fiji were so friendly and accommodating. Everyone says hello to you as you pass...."bula". Gardeners, bus drivers or locals just walking past you along the road would greet you and smile.

There are not a million things to do in Fiji, I found that out. To me Fiji is about relaxing.
