I'm planning a trip in Aug of 99 with two other people to Fiji, Australia and New Zealand. We are planning to stay in Fiji for about 10 days. I'm looking for good places to stay in Fiji (perferably good hostels or cheap resorts). Any advice on what islands and other attractions to visit would help me a lot too. Are there any reasonable inter-island flight packages that would allow us to visit the more private islands? Thanks in advance!

Just got back from 5 weeks in NZ and a week in Fiji. Fiji main island is just recovering from major flooding and was very, very dirty. The shop keepers were most agressive and very annoying. Inter island flights are not necessary as you can take a ferry to Treasure Island, Beachcombers, Mana or Castaway in under two hours. They are nicer if all you want to do is lie on the beach. We stayed in Nadi at the Nadi Beach Resort. Using the name resort is a big stretch for this one but the food was excellent and it was away from the dirt and smells of the town.
