Exchanging $ in Auckland Airport
 

Hi everyone! Is the best place to exchange US $ at the airport in Auckland? Also, does anyone know the name/hours of the place in the airport where I can exchange money?

Are you planning to bring US$ bills with you? Why not just use your debit card to withdraw money from an airport ATM?

The best place to change US money is at a Bank and the best exchange rate is for travellers cheques. Unfortunately Banks do not operate money exchanges at Airports. If you are going into the city and plan to use a taxi you might choose to pay by credit card then walk to a Bank in the city once you arrived there. Otherwise you have the choice of a debit card, which is probably the best but you will pay two transaction fees of several doollars each.

i'm going there in june and plan on using the ATM to take out NZ money.

My appologies, disregard my previous comment. For some reason I had Australia on my mind. Auckland NZ money exchange is operated by a NZ Bank and they give you fair exchange. Last time I was there I arrived very early in the morining and they were open and the exchange rate I got was the same as I saw later same day downtown Auckland. I don't remember the exact hours of operation but they were open early in the morining.
