Emperor Penguin on NZ's Kapiti Coast
An interesting story, and a little sad. A juvenile Antarctic Penguin has ended up (still alive, though eating sand) on the Kapiti Coast:

There is video of the penguin here:

I would love to go and see him. I hope he doesn't get harassed by too many people wanting to get a close up view.

Here's the latest news:

The poor little penguin's health is now deteriorating (after inadvertently entertaining crowds on the Kapiti Coast, he now may die), so he is being taken to Wellington Zoo for a check-up:

Poor little chap. Hope they can nurse him back to health.

Me, too. I am worried about him. I keep thinking about how crowds watched him eat sand. No one brought him any ice to chew on.
Maybe things can still work out for him (fingers crossed). SeaWorld San Diego has a group of Emperor Penguins he could join perhaps, if he survives. Here is the latest (he has been offered a ride home if he can survive in Wellington until February): http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/ar...ectid=10734485 |
