electric adaptors

Hey New Zealand experts, anyone know what type of adaptors work best for electical devices(U.S) to work in New Zealand. Any particular brands or web sites that sell these types of adaptors?

Hi Koa

Be careful what appliances you plug in over here as our electricity is 220 AC as oppossed to 110 DC.

Most motels/hotels do have a 110 port for shavers however.

Electrical sockets (or power points as called here) are the same as in Australia. Three pin.

Cheers

Steve

Many devices can handle both 110V and 220-240V - you'll need to check them out individually and if necessary buy a transformer. The adaptor can be picked up at travel equipment shops and duty-free shops.

I was going to recommend a useful website ("Electricity around the world") with illustrations of the various pin configurations, but I'm having trouble connecting to it. You're sure to find something similar with a bit of searching, though.

If you'll be visiting NZ for any length of time it will be worthwhile to invest in a guidebook that explains all this and more.

Thanks for the replies. Would be a real bummer if I burned out my camcorder or digital camera!

My experience was that most NZ hotels and B&B's did not have 110 DC ports for shavers. ((R))

Okay, I think I have this figured out! The two electric items i'm bringing are a diital camera charger and a Camcorder charger. Both chargers state:100-240v. By referencing the website electricity around the world, it appears that all I will need is an adaptor to fit. Clear as mud!

its 220volts ac. most hotels/motels would provide you an adaptor free of charge, if you have the same volate but nbot the same plugpin structure.
