Eastern Australia - 3 day getaway!

Hi,

We are looking at getting away for a few days over a Friday/Saturday/Sunday period in late October/early November. We are open to suggestions that might work for us!

We were looking to book a already organised package through Flight Centre or something similar but maybe you could suggest someone else?

We have access to standby flights, cheap accommodation and car hire but dont want to risk not being able to access these.

Cheers,

Angie & Lee

Where are you coming from? I notice you say Eastern Australia so are you coming from the west? Do you necessarily want to fly to another state because there are always good options within a few hours drive of capital cities.

You could get accommodation through www.wotif.com and then check for the cheapest flights that suit you on www.webjet.com.au

I don't really understand your last sentence. Also, we have been away from Australia for a number of years but I don't think standby flights exist any more. The earlier you book, the cheaper your flight will be.

One important thing I forgot to put - I am from Sydney!

Thankyou for your tips. I just have no idea what location to visit. So many endless places that I just cant decide.

I work for an airline currently so have access to all those things. Quite lucky but not willing to risk it when I only have 3 days off to work with!

Thankyou for your help Kay.

Cheers

It would help if you could give us an idea of what things appeal to you - wineries, history, markets, cities, beaches, you get the idea. Then you can narrow it down.

If you get cheap fares, you could spend your time in Melbourne, there's lots to see and do in the city and surrounds. Good shopping, great restaurants, beautiful parks, the ferry down to Williamstown, Queen Vic Market, the Zoo, etc. Or the Sunshine Coast for beaches and nice weather. The area south of Batemans Bay towards Merimbula is nice, you could drive down there.

Just one of many many very nice possibilities: Fly to Brisbane, drive to Noosa Heads - a loveley region, take a daytrip into Brisbane but mostly enjoy Noosa and the Sunshine Coast - much classier than most of the Gold Coast in my book.

Melbourne has the cup on over the first week of November so things will be at a premium. What about Adelaide, go out to the wineries, Glenelg etc
