Domestic flights

I need to buy a oneway ticket from Brisbane to Cairns. I am unable to buy the boomerang pass offered from Qantas. I checked on the Qantas website. On the internet, they are offering oneway tickets for $90. This is cheaper than the boomerang pass. However, you need to book on the Australian website. Has anyone ever tried to book on the website? Do you need to be from Australia/ They require you to enter an Australian phone number. And I'm from the U.S.

I just tried the Qantas site and put in an American phone number and it was ok - so do that. If you hit problems further down the line then put in the phone number of your first accommodation in Australia as a contact number and that should satify them.

I booked two flights through the Australian site and 1 through their New Zealand site. I may have added a +1 in front of the phone number, but in all cases the reservations made it into their systems just fine with US information (address, phone, etc).

I actually booked my Quantas domestic flights through Expedia. Originally I looked on Orbitz and was instructed I needed to contact Quantas directly for the rates they were offering. I called Quantas and they wouldn't honor the rates Orbitz quoted me. I went to the Expedia website and booked through Expedia. I was able to fly Sydney-Brisbane-Cairns-Sydney for $300 US. <BR>:) Much cheaper than the Boomerang pass.

I got the name of an Australian travel agent who did the booking for me and sent the tickets to my first place of call in Australia.
