Do I need to book the helihike at Franz Josef now?
 

Is it necessary to prebook a heli hike for Fox or Franz Josef for early March? I know what day we'll be there; but, was under the impression that it could be done on the spot.

Actually, they fill up pretty early. I would book now. Go for the morning time slot.

Tim and Liz, what helicopter trip did you do and what helicopter line did you use? There seem to be many options and more than one tour line.
We will be driving from Hokitika that morning so we only have the one day for the glaciers.

We used the Helicopter Line, booked by our motel the Punga Grove. I don't think it matters which company you use, though.

Check out the cancellation policies, which I believe are fairly liberal. Then book the trip as soon as you are reasonably sure what you want. A reservation on the book is worth......
