Day trips from Cairns?
 

Hi Guys!
I'm staying in Palm Cove as part of my Honeymoon, and I was thinking of taking a Day Trip out to one of the Islands, but there is such a choice : Green Island, Fitzroy Island, Hinchinbrook Island, plus others! Can anyone make me a recommendation? Please!

I don't recommend Green Island at all. Our trip there was overpriced and there wasn't much to do once you got to the Island (the reef wasn't as spectacular from the Island as we hoped). Can't speak for any of the other islands though.

You will not be disapointed with Palm cove its beautiful. I agree with mrsfletcher avoid Green Island its dreadfull and was a real anti climax for us. Can't recommend others as GI was to be our island trip and we didn't get to another, but there are plenty of good posts on this Forum search them out.
When you are at Palm Cove make sure you visit the lifeguards club, its about 2/3 up the front and you will get a good value friendly night with great food and drink, friendly locals and a good time will be had.

Hi there Muck,
Thanks for the tip off, you too mrsfletcher! We are staying at the Reef House for 3 nights. We've stayed there before a few years back, and just couldn't resist going back. Before getting to Palm Cove, we are treating ourselves to 3 nights at the Thala Beach Lodge. Can you name any 'Must Do's' while we are in the area?

There's not much to do at Fitzroy Island either. There is a short trail around the island with great views but more than two hours there and you'll be bored.
