ACCOMODATIONS ON GOLD COAST

We will be visiting the Gold Coast in March to spend time with our daughter who will be studying abroad at Bond University. We would like to stay on the beach in a nice place that wouldn't be too far from the University. We plan to have a rental car. We will be staying for a week and so would like a place that has a kitchen. We're not necessarily looking for something economical, rather something with a good location. Thanks for your help.

Bond Uni is just west of the beach strip. The closest beach suburb is Miami, but I'd recommend staying a few kms north at Broadbeach. Just north of that is Surfers Paradise, but its very busy and touristy. Broadbeach has an excellent beach, park and surf club, closde to a major shopping centre and the Casino and has a good pedestrian mall with plenty of cafes and the like.
There are plenty of holiday apartment blocks in Broadbeach. i'd recommend one overlooking the park and beach, within easy walking distance to the mall. We stay at South Pacific Plaza, whcih is perfectly located. www.southpacificplaza.com

Sheryl,
we have also stayed at the apartments that Matt recommends and would stay there again but if you want more options, have a look on
www.jasons.com.au
and use Broadbeach as a keyword. You will find lots of options. Mermaid Beach is the next suburb south which would also be OK.
Kay

Thanks, I'll check them out. Have you heard of the Phoenician on Broadbeach? It was recommended by someone.

The Phonecian is a large spa/health-type complex. its only a few years old and looks fairly swish, but is close to the highway and lots of outdoor restaurants, so may be a bit noisy. Its also a block or two back from the beach, so probably has no ocean views.
