Daintree accomodations & what to do there

Does anyone have a recomendation of a place to stay in the Daintree? We are traveling in early July with a 9yr. old. Any ideas on how to spend the 3 days we have, what not to miss? Is Kuranda worth going to?

To clarify, we are looking for a rain forest experience, not a beach type stay.

We are going in May and have been to Cairns and Karanda once before.
Our first trip we stayed at a hostel that was fine though i wouldnt stay there with kids. We did the reef thing that time.
This time we are staying at the Mossman Fantail B&B, its really economical and they were happy to take kids.
Karanda i think will depend on your family, its very touristy. the bird and butterfly houses are a lot of fun and the skyrail is fun too.
This time we are going to hang out further north, see the mossman gorge and daintree rainforest, play on the beaches, eat strange fruits....

We stayed at Red Mill House in Daintree Village twice, and really enjoyed it. www.redmillhouse.com.au Trish and Andrew were also really great about helping arrange excursions as well. From there there are several river tours you can take, at many different times of day. We have done both Chris Dahlquist and Daintree River Experience and enjoyed them both immensely. We've also taken the ferry across the river and visited one of the boardwalks, the ice cream place, etc.

If you go to the link above for Red Mill House, there is a link from their site with suggested activities/itineraries. Also, there is a trip report from RalphR that talks about their trip across the river.

There are plenty of wonderful places to stay, I'm sure others will pop in with some of their favorites too

In July you will not need airconditioning and Redmill house has a two bedroom unit under the main building. Not flash but servicable and very well located. Trish and Andrew are great hosts, I love their homemade yoghurt.

Saltuarius - and Trish makes the best eggs! I know that sounds like a simple thing, but really, a lot of people can screw it up. Hers are the best.

Sorry Gabriella, got off track!
