Cyclone in Queensland
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this cyclone threat. Please let us know how you are making it through this storm.
Cheers, Jinx Hoover |
Nice thought Jinx, we are not in Far North Queensland but our thoughs as yours, are with our fellow Aussies affected by this cyclone.
Thankfully there were no lives lost but substantial damage to buildings and crops and, needless to say the associated individual emotional impacts. Full recovery will take some time but government & community support is available and has been activated. |
I'm not in far north Queensland either, but from what I have read and seen on the tv the devastation is terrible.

Some italian backpackers were helping out with the cleanup (including helping to cook and serve up all the meat from butchers shop). I thought that was nice and reminds me that humans are alright
|
bhuty, butchers are good - our local butcher at Stratford north of Cairns has let neighbouring shops, pharmacy, and restaurant plug into his enormous generator. Without that power would have had to close and would have lost all refrigerated goodies.
|
here's hoping the best for all of you guys pat. I wish for everyone's sake that the rain would move south instead of adding to the spoils.
Is the army there yet? |
Thanks bhuty, yes, there's some army personnel there already with more on its way. Last thing Innisfail needed last night was another 6" of rain. Watching Cyclone Wati, there are fears of a double whammy, but it seems to be tracking a long way south of Innisfail.
|
Dear Pat, Glad you are OK and that Wati is tracking south. Hope the folks down there are as lucky as you were w/ no loss of lives.
