Cruising the Whitsundays

Can anyone recommend a luxury trip that we can do around the Whitsundays? Thanks

Ally Mar 13th, 2002 05:35 AM

Yes, ABSOLUTELY!
I sailed for 5 days around the Whitsundays on a 54' boat named Sydney Sundancer. It was so fabulous. John and Lynne are excellent host. There is plenty of good wine on board, and GOURMET food. I just can't say enough good things about the operation. Check them out at:

http://www.luxuryyacht.com.au/holidays/holidays.htm

Thanks for this, I looked on the website but unfortunately they don't do trips in December which is when we want to go ... any other suggestions would be great!

Andrea,
Sorry, I didn't realize you were wanting to cruise in December. That time of year is the Tropical Cyclone season, so to be safe, they don't sail at that time. I have kept in touch with them often since my sail. I've sent John an email and have asked for his advice and whether he knows of anyone who 'cruises' at that time of year. I'll post back when I hear from him, which should only be a day or two.

Andrea,
I heard from John on the Sydney Sundancer. Besides December being the Cyclone (WET!) season, he also says they don't sail at that time because of the prevelance of Chironex (Box Jellyfish) at that time of year. He does not personally know of anyone who cruises in December, but will let me know if he hears of anyone doing this. If you decide to cruise in December it sound like it might be a good idea to get 'trip insurance'. Good luck!

Andrea
You seem to want other people to help you but you don't seem to be bothered to tell them the details and when they do you don't seem to be bothered to say "thank you" - perhaps you know what I am talking about

Apple- you are an example of the slow deterioration of this travel forum- you are a person who criticizes the questioner instead of either just providing a helpful answer to the question asked or not answering at all. I am sure I am not the only one sick of this.

Pear - my words exactly! Think Apple's got a maggot! I have been away so haven't had a chance to check this site out. So, thanks for the replies, the information is very useful, thanks Ally for your help. We've decided against the idea of a trip. I did check out the web site and it looks great - perhaps we'll try it another time!
