<Like the ABC news music - cricket on the radio is parting the soundtrack of my youth. Still is.>

Here too. My first radio was a crystal set my uncle installed in a varnished chocolate box and mounted on the wall next to my bed so I could listen [with those old uncomfortable headphones] through the night to the Test matches from the northern hemisphere. Later, when driving extensively throughout SE Australia on holidays I enjoyed tuning in to ABC Radio's Hospital Hour [which focussed on a regional and often remote hospital and community] and even the local sale yard and railhead grain reports [curiously exotic to a city slicker].

thank you all for NOT mentioning what is happening [or has just happened] in Melbourne.

both humiliating and inexplicable.

I'm [almost] glad to be home!

Well, Ann, we're quite cavalier about the cricket, now that the angst has gone. Still Sydney to come, though.

We're mourning the imminent absence of Kerry O'Keefe instead.

I'm in Devon now, and still the weather is crap! Looking forward to warmth and mangoes on Thursday.

sorry about the Devon weather Margo. It will be no comfort to you that we have had blue skies every day, but [you may be glad to read] not ALL day, every day.

more rain and storms over night - I'm trying to steal myself to going down the garden to see what more damage my poor polytunnel has suffered.
