Costco packages to Bora Bora/Tahiti

As some people have mentioned on this site I have recently discovered excellent pricing on packages to Bora Bora/Tahiti from Costco travel. Packages range from $1200 to $2000 dollars including airfare. This seems like it is too good to be tru. Has anyone taken a trip booked through Costco's and how was your experience?

Thanks,

Todd

I am a heavy Costco user and am pleased with everything that I bought from them. I never did book a vacation through them. Let's put it this way...

In january 2000 we got married and went for one week to Club Med Moorea and then for another week at Club Med Bora Bora. THis cost just over $8400 including the plane, room (spartan one at that), food, beer and wine during lunch and dinner, and activities. We did however take day trips which brough the total well over $10000. These prices are also from New York. Where are you coming from?

If you can have a room in Bora Bora and a rount trip plane ticket for seven days for only $1200 I'd be happy sleeping in a private cell in their jail!!!!

I didn't book my trip to FP with them, but I did book my recent trip to Puerto Vallarta with Costco and am happy to report everything went without a hitch. Note that Costco doesn't actually do the booking, instead, the work is subcontracted out to a seperate travel company. Since Costco has an enormous (and rapidly growing) member base, it seems clear that it is in the travel company's best interests to keep their Costco customers satisfied - or Costco may look elsewhere for this service.
I highly recommend them. They did a good job for us and I'd guess they'd do the same for you.

Ken

check out the discoverwholesaletravel.com site for some comparison before you book.

No ,$1200. isnt too good to be true at all! As Pat suggested, check out Discover Travel. Ive seen packages from $800. with them. It depends when you go of course. I think what they offer is the flight and a hotel for 7 nights in Moorea. I went to Tahiti last year on a cruise for about $1400. It wasnt with Discover however. We did the cruise because we wanted to see more islands. Definitely shop around. No way would I pay $8000. for a Club Med. THats insane!!

Do not use Discover Wholesale Travel. We used recently and had nothing but trouble. You can't talk to anyone and they don't have their s... together. Cosco is also suspect. Remember, you always get the service you pay for....
Also, saying you can get a package for $1200 to $2000 doesn't mean anything....what hotels, and what bungalows, and when???

DITTO!!! Remember you always get what you PAY for. Cheap price=cheap accomadations and not the best location,et beach and water quality. All depends what you are looking for. We went 4 years ago and went with Sofitel's properties (not the higher class but not the cheaper accomadations), we felt pampered and loved our rooms. And what you stay in DOES make a difference, it is part of the experience! Going again in less than a month and can't wait.

I have shopped at costco myself and never had problems. I agree that costco has a large customer base and would want to make sure their customers are satified with their products & services. That being said, I have looked into discover wholesale travel because it was mentioned at frommers.com. I am also interested in replies about that company too. I would go with costco since I have never had problems with them. I knew they had a travel book, but never really looked into it. Their deal sounds great! Try posting at tahiti-nui.com/forum/index.asp for more general info on tahiti by travelers. The airline air tahiti nui has their own specials as well, see airtahitinui-usa.com. It might help with your research.
