Cook Island Diving and Aquatic Info

Hi,
I am thinking about taking a trip to the Cook Islands and wanted to gather a little bit of information. I would be interested in taking some kind of exploritory diving course. I have been snorkeling before but would like to see if I like scuba diving before fully committing to classes. I am also curious about what kind of aquatic wild life there is. What kind of sharks, rays, octopus, things like that. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You'll want to google "PADI Discover Scuba Dive" trip at your destination. I presume you'll be going to Rarotonga or Aitutaki. There are dive operators on both islands. You can then contact the dive operator with your questions about what you might see.

Hi luisconley4099,
It's been a while since I was in Rarotonga. It is a very beautiful island and there are very nice lagoons for snorkelling in the south of the island. I did some diving but unfortunately there were few fish and almost all the coral was dead. However, the water was very clear, had hardly any current and was warm and therefore suitable for divers without experience.
Have a great trip
Martin
